Whe Chun System Instructors

  • Wayne Renfrow (Whe Chun)

    Headmaster

    Master Renfrow has been studying and practicing martial arts for over 60 years. His training began in the Mongolian Chou Con Di system and has continued in Japan and the U.S. In 1998 he separated himself from the Chou Con Di System and began teaching the Whe Chun System, an adaptation of Chou Con Di for U.S. students.

  • Terry Bergen

    Head Dojo instructor

    Terry has been studying and practicing martial arts for nearly 50 years. Many local children have started training with him when they were very young and have grown into strong and powerful agents of their own success. They continue to practice and thrive here in Poultney and in many other places across America.

  • Will Bergen

    Sandan

    Will has been studying and practicing martial arts for over 25 years. He has extended his practice of combat to the study of security in virtual space, getting a masters degree in computer security.

  • Moses Hudson-Knapp

    Nidan

    Pursuing a lifetime interest in martial arts, Moses met Terry as a student at Castleton University and began his practice and training in 2005.  He has remained an active student and contributor to the system throughout his career as a nurse and now an Executive Director for Community Health.

  • Justin Davenport

    Shodan

    Justin started training with us when he was a little boy and continues to this day. He graduated from Poultney High School and has found a very good job in construction where he practices his combat skills against the land operating heavy equipment.

  • Zack Sawyer

    Shodan

    Zack began his training with us when he was a little boy and continued his training until he left for college, after graduating from Poultney High School. He expanded his study of combat into rock climbing activities where he has been developing into an expert coach and guide.

  • Connor Hill

    Upper Student

    Connor began his training with us when he was a little boy and continued till he graduated from Poultney High School and left for college. He has developed his study of combat into expertise as an engineer and manager of a large slate company where he continues to develop his observing, evaluating and responding skills in international trade.
